ACSR Panther conductor is an Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) used for overhead power transmission and distribution lines, manufactured as per IS 398 (Part 2). It consists of 30 hard drawn aluminium strands laid over a central core of 7 galvanized steel wires, giving a total construction of 30/7. The nominal aluminium area is 200 sq.mm with a total cross-sectional area of approximately 250 sq.mm. The steel core provides high tensile strength, while the aluminium strands ensure good electrical conductivity. It has an overall diameter of around 21 mm and is suitable for medium and high voltage lines such as 33 kV, 66 kV and 132 kV. ACSR Panther conductor is widely used in India due to its high strength, good current carrying capacity, durability, and economical performance for long-span overhead transmission lines.
